October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Friday we will have our annual Pink Out Day! Wear your pink in support of those who have fought or those fighting now!

A cute reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday, October 9th and Tuesday, October 10th of next week. The 9th is a planned holiday and the 10th is a Teacher-In-Service day.

Second Graders at Pickens Elementary will be taking the CogAT/IOWA Assessments during the week of October 16th-20th. Please put these dates on your calendar. We encourage all of these students to be on time each day and to refrain from early dismissals if possible. If you would like to learn more about these assessments you can find all the information on the SC Dept. of Education website.

Important Parent Meeting planned for those wishing to participate in the YAMS program. All forms need to be turned in by this Friday, September 15th. You will be receiving an invitation to which meeting to go to. All are encouraged to attend! If you are hoping to play your own instrument, please bring it with you to the meeting to be approved by an instructor.
It's the most wonderful time of the year! No! Not Christmas silly! Book fair week! Along with Grandparent's Breakfast it will be a lot of fun!
Due to picture day being Friday we will be celebrating Dot Day on Thursday, September 14th.
International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.
Some activities are planned throughout the week by different teachers. We encourage everyone to wear dots on Thursday. Wear one or wear a lot!
We are excited to welcome our youngest readers and their families to PES for another year of preschool story time! This month we hope you will celebrate the beginning of Autumn with us as we read about How Apples grow and engage in a variety of apple activities.
