Good Afternoon, Shark families!
Tomorrow is an E-learning day. We miss our Sharks and their families! We hope to return to a regular schedule on Monday, Oct. 7th. However, tomorrow, the school cafeteria and playground will be open to play with more sharks! See the photo below! We would love for you and your families to come from 10 am to 12 pm!
MAST Shark Families,
We hope this message finds you safe and well. Due to Hurricane Helene's widespread power outages and continuing impact, schools are closed on Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1, 2024. We understand that many families still lack power and internet access, and we appreciate your patience during this time.
Safety first. Your family's well-being is the top priority right now. If there are any urgent needs your school should be aware of, please let us know. We respectfully ask families to help us minimize travel on county roads during this time so that emergency workers can more easily access areas needing support.
Grace and flexibility. We know many families and teachers may be without power, making accessing or posting any learning activities difficult. We fully understand these challenges. In the meantime, low-tech options such as reading or reflective activities are encouraged if practical. A great example is silently reading 20-30 minutes daily for students and parents reading aloud (K-5th grade) any great book.
Extended deadlines. Students will have until 5 school days after school resumes to complete any assigned work from last Friday. Flexibility will be offered to ensure that everyone has ample time to complete any work missed during these closures.
Please prioritize your safety and well-being during this time. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back once conditions improve.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Heather Touchberry
McKissick Academy of Science and Technology
Shark Families,
Please disregard the reminder about tomorrow. We are OUT of school for the weather and will have an E-Learning day tomorrow, 9/27/24. Sorry about the confusion!
Shark Families: Thursday will be a normal school day but afterschool care will end at 5:00PM. All students must be picked up no later than 5:00PM on Thursday. Friday will be an eLearning Day for the School District of Pickens County due to Hurricane Helene's predicted path and concerns with high winds for school buses and hazardous conditions. Be safe and take care!
