This just in: Teacher Cadets from Daniel High School came to observe in our Pre-K classrooms (and play in the Discovery Den!) this morning. Yesterday, high school students from the Junior Leadership Pickens County toured the school and observed in our classrooms as well. We are always so proud to promote the great things happening in our school, and hope that it inspires our community’s future leaders to choose to make an impact as educators!

PACK families, this week, we're celebrating "Liberty Loves Literacy" all throughout the community! Let’s go on a scavenger hunt for books in businesses around town! During the week of February 19-23, look for hearts in the windows of downtown businesses to find a book (or 2 or 3…!) Collect stickers on your Liberty Loves Literacy chart and turn in to the school at the end of the week to be entered into a prize drawing! Check out this video for more info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfWh5sor9vs

Our Wolfpack had a blast celebrating Global School Play Day today! Research indicates that opportunities of free play give children practice developing world class skills like creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Check out these photos and look for all the laughing and learning taking place!

Last night’s Title I Family Engagement Night was all about careers! Students and their families experienced 8 classroom transformations centered around a future career: zoologist, meteorologist, marine biologist, astronomer, veterinarian, scientist, construction manager, and botanist! Students explored plants in a greenhouse, identified animals based on their x-rays in a vet clinic, performed experiments in a mad science lab, and created habitats for safari animals- just to name a few of the awesome activities our teachers prepared for them last night! Thanks to all our families who were able to come out last night- we had 655 people in attendance! What a great turnout! We hope you had a blast dreaming together about your child’s future career opportunities! #thisisliberty #welltakeitfromhere

Over the course of the next two months (1/22-3/15), students at LPS who are considered English Language Learners will take the annual ACCESS test. This test includes 4 domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Mrs. Zeigler, our ESOL teacher, will conduct testing in small groups and/or individually with her students during this testing window. Results from this assessment are used to make decisions about students' English academic language and to facilitate their language development.
