History Club members used their after school meeting time to pick up trash on school grounds with club sponsors Mr. James and Mrs. Bishop.
Students picked up trash in the courtyard, the gym, at the car-line, and inside and outside the fence at the basketball courts.
The Orchestra students are performing in their Strings Spooktacular Concert on Tuesday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the GMS Auditorium. The students will be making spooky sounds and playing some spooky musical selections. We hope you will come and join us for the fun! The concert is free and open to the public. You never know what spooky creatures you may run into at this event.
We hope to see you there!
Our 6th grade band students first concert was this past week on Thursday and the students had a wonderful performance, especially considering they started playing their instruments less than 2 months ago!
Students also had a blast getting to teach their parents how to play one of the songs as a surprise at the end of the concert!
Thank you to our administrators for such incredible support of our students! Band is thriving at Gettys!

Our Gettys student council is sponsoring the "Catch a Break-er Drive" to help provide needed items to members of our school community who are in need after the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Please see the attached flier here for more information on how to sign up.

Does your family love to play games? On Saturday, Meeple Merchants, a board game store in Easley, will be hosting a board game designer who will be demonstrating his game before it goes on sale.
It's a super fun family friendly game, and they will have free pizza. All who enjoy playing games are invited to come test the game and give some feedback directly to the game designer!!
Open House for the Pickens County Career and Technology Center will be Tuesday, October 8th from 5:30-7:30pm. All 6th-12th grade students and families are invited to tour the center and learn about all they offer.
Open House is this Thursday, August 22 from 5-7pm. Please join us to meet teachers, see your student's work, and get connected at GMS. We will have Kona Ice and the Boujee Food Truck. We look forward to seeing you!

You are reminded that students will need instruments on August 17th. If you have not yet rented or purchased these, please come to the Gettys band room this coming Thursday (August 8) between 4-6:30 to rent your instrument. There is also a parent meeting this Tuesday (August 8) at 7pm for all band parents in the Gettys Auditorium. Please make arrangements to attend if able. We are excited to announce that PSAT testing will take place at Gettys Middle School on October 10th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to prepare for future standardized tests and gain valuable insights into their academic strengths.
