Moushumi (Mou) Rangaraju, Bookkeeper and Secretary at D.W. Daniel High School, has been named the 2024-2025 School District of Pickens County Support Employee of the Year. Rangaraju was announced as the winner at SDPC’s 2024 Support Employee and Teacher of the Year Banquet on Monday, September 16, where 32 support employees of the year from each of the district’s schools and departments were honored.
Rangaraju has been with SDPC since 2021 and has quickly become an integral part of the D.W. Daniel High School team. Principal Adam Russell described her as “the heart and soul of the school,” emphasizing her commitment to teamwork and collaboration. “Mou took on additional responsibilities when key administrative assistants were on leave or resigned, ensuring the school continued to function smoothly. She is always willing to step up and serve where needed,” Russell noted.
Rangaraju's contributions extend beyond her bookkeeping role. She regularly volunteers to help with field trips, teaches crochet to students, and has even served as a substitute teacher when necessary. Her dedication to the school and community is evident in her involvement with the United Way of Pickens County and her role as a Notary Public, providing services to students, staff, and the community.
“Mou brings joy into the office,” Russell added. “Her laughter can be heard throughout the building, and her positive energy has a tremendous impact on students, parents, and staff alike.”
Mou's colleagues and the D.W. Daniel community appreciate her unwavering commitment to service. AFJROTC Instructor Todd Preisch shared, “Mou’s support was pivotal in helping us secure the Outstanding Unit Award from the Air Force. Her attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond has had a lasting impact on our program.”
In addition to her work at D.W. Daniel High School, Rangaraju has volunteered with Harvest Hope Food Bank, coordinated canned food drives, and served as a treasurer for a local charitable organization. Dr. Rajashri Deshpande, a longtime friend and colleague, noted, “Mou is a person who embodies optimism, responsibility, and passion. She is always ready to help those in need, making her truly deserving of this honor.”
