D.W. Daniel High School is grieving the loss of two of our students following the tragic events of May 18, 2024. The loss of Zakaria Chaar (10th grade) and Rayan Alnasser (10th grade) affects us all. We are missing two members of our Pride, Lions who had an incredible impact on our school.

Rayan Alnasser - 10th Grade

One student remembers Rayan as having "a smile that lit up every room and a person that so many people loved so much. Our hearts and prayers are with the family and friends of Rayan. We love and miss you so much." - D.W. Daniel High School Student

"Rayan was a kid of humility and silent work. He was the funny kid of the group, he was loved by everyone. He always wanted to be so mysterious. He will be greatly missed. A young life with so much to live has been called back home to Allah." - Soccer Coach, Thomas Izaguirre

“Well-liked by his peers, often smiling and laughing, an integral part of the State Championship Daniel Boys Soccer team. Rayan was highly intelligent and full of energy and fun.” - Math Teacher, Leeann Qualkinbush

“Rayan had an easy smile, an overwhelming sense of joy, and he loved his family and friends deeply. He had a healthy sense of self, yet he remained deeply humble. In every classroom, Rayan had a magnetic presence that drew everyone--teachers and students alike--into his orbit, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and warmth. As a 9th grader, he didn’t make the varsity soccer squad, but he used that to motivate him to make the team, which he did, as a sophomore. Rayan was smart, determined, and kind, but he will be remembered most for his joy.” - English Teacher, Amy Elrod
