The South Carolina Department of Educations has opened the Fall Public Review of Instructional Materials that have been proposed for use in South Carolina's Public Schools. 

Each year the state of South Carolina establishes priorities for purchasing instructional materials and resources for our students. South Carolina is funding new instructional materials for grades 9 - 12. Before the process reaches our schools, the SC State Board of Education seeks stakeholder input from across the state and approves a broad list of textbooks for schools to review. After this public review closes the state committee will review comments and decide which texts can move onto the next round - the local (district) level review and recommendation process.

The instructional material under review for Fall 2022 includes:

  • AP Biology 
  • Biology 1, 2 
  • Civics
  • Career & Technology Education Courses (CATE)
  • Computer Applications 
  • Digital Art & Design 1,2,3,4 
  • Digital Multimedia
  • Digital Workplace Applications
  • Esthetics
  • Event & Entertainment Management 
  • Fundamentals of Health Care 
  • Image Editing 
  • International Business
  • Nutrition and Wellness

You are invited to review these textbooks in the SC Department of Education Fall Public Review. The student editions of each of the recommended programs will be open for review from October 11 - November 14, 2022. The materials will be on display at twelve locations across South Carolina.
