SDPC Announces new Administrative Changes for 2024-2025
As we prepare for the 2024-25 school year, the Board of Trustees has approved the following leadership positions:
Brad Blackston - SDPC Director of Adult Education
The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) is pleased to announce that Mr. Brad Blackston has been named the next Director of Adult Education, effective July 1, 2024. With 18 years of service within SDPC, Mr. Blackston currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Adult Learning Center and the SDPC Attendance and Expulsion Hearing Officer. Mr. Blackston will succeed Susan Gibson following her upcoming retirement at the end of her 40th year of serving in education in June.

Lauren Fox - SDPC Executive Director of Innovation and Community Engagement
Lauren Fox, who currently serves as Senior Strategic Manager within the Office of Institutional Excellence at Clemson University, has been selected as the Executive Director of Innovation and Community Engagement. This is a position placed in the operating budget in 2021. With 13 years of education experience in higher education, before coming to Clemson, Fox was part of the Notre Dame Office of the Provost’s “Inspired Leadership Initiative” (ILI). She also served in an advisory capacity to the Vice President and Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education bolstering strategic planning, priority articulation, and team development strategies. Mrs. Fox will begin her new role on March 1, 2024.

Carrie Gregory, SDPC Director of Health Services
The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) is thrilled to announce that Carrie Gregory, RN, MSN, will be the next Director of Health Services, effective July 1, 2024. Carrie Gregory brings over 25 of experience in nursing and health administration to her new role. Mrs. Gregory will succeed Angela Watson, who is set to retire in June.

Lenette Hernandez - SDPC Director of Multilingual Services
The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) is excited to announce the appointment of Lenette Hernandez as the Director of Multilingual Services beginning in July 2024. Fluent in Spanish, Lenette Hernandez comes to SDPC with extensive experience in the field of education, having served in various academic roles. She currently serves as an Instructional Coach and School Improvement Coordinator at Pickens High School.

Chris Brewington - Principal, East End Elementary
Following recommendations made at the board meeting this evening, it is a pleasure to announce that Mr. Chris Brewington will be the next Principal at East End Elementary. Mr. Brewington will officially become Principal of East End on July 1, 2024. Mr. Brewington has been an Assistant Principal at Gettys Middle since 2019 and has been extremely successful.
"We had many outstanding candidates for this position, but Chris stood out with his passion, leadership, and vision for East End Elementary," said Superintendent Dr. Danny Merck. "His commitment to student-centered education and collaborative leadership style were key factors in his selection for this crucial role."
