The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) Communications Department supports the District’s Mission and Vision to “engage students today and empower them for tomorrow’s success” by facilitating communication with external and internal audiences, and building and maintaining community relationships and engagement, and by recognizing and rewarding student and staff achievement and excellence. By ensuring and building trust with our community of stakeholders - students, employees, parents, and community members.

Serving as a liaison with the community and the news media, the department ensures that families, residents and media outlets all receive timely and accurate information about the district.

The Communication Department produces news releases on district activities, responds to press inquiries and responds to public information and Freedom of Information Act requests. The staff also maintains the district website, distributes an e-newsletter to employees, and produces district publications such as the district calendar, student/parent handbook, report to the community, profile sheets and specialized publications.

The Communications Department is also essential to the District’s accountability to its stakeholders by demonstrating that SDPC is fulfilling its mission and meeting goals set forth by the Department of Education and Board of Trustees. Our foundation is based on strong, proactive communication and trust with our community and stakeholders. Our department serves 26 schools and sites with over 16,300 students and over 2,000 employees.
