Expectations for Teachers

  • Develop knowledge of the SCCCR-ELA Standards for the grade level taught as well as the grade levels prior to & after
    • Consistently use the inquiry-based standards for ELA
    • Embed the Fundamentals of Reading, Writing, and Communication which describe processes students must use and integrate to become successful and proficient readers, writers, and communicators, regardless of their grade level or course placement.
    • Teach students to read, write, communicate, think critically, and perform in meaningful relevant ways within and across disciplines to access and deeply understand content
  • Implement best practice and the SDPC Literacy Model
  • Use assessment to drive and personalize instruction
  • Utilize state and district recommend resources to provide high quality literacy instruction
