The results of the 2018 SC Ready and SC PASS assessments have been released, showing strong growth by Pickens County’s elementary and middle school students.
SC Ready tests students in grades 3-8 on English Language Arts and Math. SC PASS tests students on Science in grades 4, 6, and 8, and on Social Studies in grades 5 and 7.
SDPC students met or exceeded expectations at a higher rate than state averages in all but one test in one grade. Out of all of the grade levels and tested areas, SDPC students improved over last year’s scores in 14 of 17.
“I’m very pleased with the overall growth our students displayed over the past year,” said Dr. Danny Merck, SDPC Superintendent. “Our Instructional Services department under the leadership of Mrs. Sharon Huff have done an excellent job of preparing our teachers with effective strategies. Also, our board’s investment in technology with the support of our Accountability & Information Technology Services have been a huge advantage as we have tried to help students adjust to required online testing. Helping our students succeed is a whole-team effort.”
