Meet Our Board Members

The six-member board of trustees governs the actions of the School District of Pickens County. One member for each of six districts is elected for staggered four-year terms.

Each board member participates in annual training as provided by the South Carolina School Boards Association and each member has completed the orientation requirement as set by the State of SC.

Mrs. Bagley is a graduate of Liberty High School, Southern Wesleyan University (BA), Clemson University (M.Ed.) and The Citadel (M.Ed. & Ed.S).  Currently, Mrs. Bagley is a Ph.D. Candidate in Educational Leadership at Clemson University.   She has 48 years of experience in education, including 20 years as Superintendent in two districts.   Presently, Mrs. Bagley is a Personalized Learning Consultant with the South Carolina Department of Education and the Liaison to TransformSC.  She is an Adjunct Professor of Education in the graduate program at Anderson University.  Mrs. Bagley has two children and three grandchildren, and she lives in Clemson with her husband, Sack.  Her priority is to provide the support and resources necessary for students in Pickens County to be college and career ready upon graduation.

Mr. Bowers is a lifelong resident of Six Mile and a graduate of Daniel High, Tri-County Technical College (AS), Limestone College (BA), Southern Wesleyan University (BS) and Clemson University (MS). He and his wife, Marsha, have one son and one granddaughter. They are active members of Grace United Methodist Church. He has experience on the S. C. State Board of Education and the S.C. Education Oversight Committee. He is active in community and education matters and serves on the advisory board of the Pickens County Career and Technology Center as well as the advisory board of Tri-County Technical College. He has been employed with Duke Energy for 34 years in maintenance, engineering and construction, and is currently in project management. His goals include a greater emphasis on the classroom, local control and community values, elementary reading, career and technology, and cost management that balances student performance and taxpayer interests.

Mr. Haskett is a lifelong resident of Pickens and is a 1990 graduate of Pickens High. He received his mathematics degree from The Citadel in 1994. He and his wife, Maria, have two children: Branson, who attends Pickens Middle, and Ashlyn, who attends Ambler Elementary.  Maria is a graduate of Liberty High School and Erskine College.  His family are active members of East Pickens Baptist Church. Mr. Haskett has been self-employed for 20 years and understands the value of people and proper planning. He has been a sales manager for the past 12 years. This experience has taught him how to collaborate with others in a positive manner. His passion is to make our district the most financially stable and educationally advanced in South Carolina.

Dr. Swords represents District 4 (Liberty/Western Easley area) of Pickens County.  A lifelong resident of Liberty and a Liberty High School graduate, Dr. Swords has over 25 years of experience in education and business.  Dr. Swords holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Finance from Southern Wesleyan University, Masters Degrees in Technology and Human Resource Development and a Doctorate Degree in Career and Technology Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. He completed Post-Doctoral work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Throughout his career he has served in various roles in higher education including teaching, coaching and student affairs administration. He is employed with Tri-County Technical College as the Executive Director of Campuses and Training Centers, where he works closely with business, industry, and economic development in our local area.  Dr. Swords also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Education and Business in the Graduate School of Southern Wesleyan University. He serves on a number of boards throughout the county and state including the past chairman of the Easley Chamber of Commerce, Leadership South Carolina board and founding board member for the Junior Leadership Pickens County program.  Dr. Swords resides in Liberty with his two sons, Tyler, a senior at Pickens High, and Andrew, a 6th grader at Liberty Middle.  Dr. Swords is a member of Landmark Baptist Church, where he volunteers with the college and career ministry.  His priorities are placing students first in all decisions and engaging our community to advance the mission of our schools and economic development within Pickens County.

Mrs. Garrison has had an extensive career in education, first as a teacher at Wade Hampton High School, then as a teacher, guidance counselor, curriculum assistant, assistant principal and principal at Easley High School. After her retirement from Easley High, she continued her service to students as a GED instructor at the SDPC Adult Learning Center. She holds a B.S. Ed. from Mississippi College, a M.Ed. in Personnel Services from Clemson University, a M.A. in Secondary School Administration from Furman University, and she is a graduate of the South Carolina School Leadership Institute. She is an active member of Easley First Baptist Church, the Pickens County Foster Care Review Board, the Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation Board, the Rotary Club of Easley, and the United Way of Pickens County Women’s Leadership Council. She has two sons and two grandsons, and she lives in Easley with her husband, Jim.  She says, "Our school district has high-achieving students, outstanding teachers and administrators, and quality facilities.  Let's make our reputations consistent with our high-caliber educators and offerings."
